Ø WHY ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL?

In order to create a building or solve an issue, an architect must analyze a wealth of data and information. This requires the student to think creatively and outside the box.

Ø HISTORY OF BUET ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL

The Department of Architecture building, designed by Richard Edwin Vrooman, is the best representation of the emergence of professional architectural education in Bangladesh during the 1960s (1920-2002). The building process began in 1962. The goal was to teach local architects to bridge the skills gap in architectural design required by the expanding construction industry. When the Pakistani government decided in 1962 to transform Ahsanullah Engineering College in Dhaka into EPUET, a full-fledged university, there was a pressing need to establish an architectural department. Vrooman excelled in the situation. He led the formation of an architecture program that quickly developed despite bureaucratic impediments.

Ø SITE SURROUNDINGS

On a wedge-shaped site, the BUET Architecture building is situated at the northwest corner of the campus. The site is bounded on the north and south by two thoroughfares, which join at Bakhshi Bazar in the west. An internal campus road, which also offers access to the Architecture Faculty building complex, forms the site's eastern edge. A large pond stood in the triangle-shaped site's middle; it was later filled.

In conclusion, A studio-based learning environment's design is different from that of a standard educational institution in that it calls for a creative and inspirational atmosphere, which may typically be produced from a space's underlying emotion and inherent integrity. BUET Architecture Building is one of the pioneers of studio-based learning environments in Bangladesh, the study can reflect the possible guidelines for contemporary settings for creative environments.
